The 2023 Global Terrorism Index (GTI) is an annual report produced by the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP). In its 10th edition, the 2023 GTI provides a comprehensive summary of the key global trends and patterns in terrorism. With its unique scoring system measuring the direct and indirect impact of terrorism in 163 countries, the report also provides insights on how terrorism has evolved over the past decade. This year’s edition offers some valuable insights that will help policymakers understand where terrorist groups are most present and what has led to their growth.
The 2023 GTI describes the many aspects of the terrorist phenomenon such as the socio-economic conditions under which it occurs, how terrorism changes over time, the geopolitical drivers and ideological aims of terrorist groups and the most recent technological strategies that are being used by terrorists. Join us at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy for a panel discussion to deliberate on the key findings of the Global Terrorism Index, as well as to exchange insights on the key trajectories of terrorism trends over the last decade. We will discuss the different types of extremist groups that are present today and provide insights on which parts of the world are the most impacted by terrorist groups and why. We have lined up an exciting panel of global experts that will share with you their own perspectives of the new report and their own work in the field in combatting terrorism at its roots.Panelists:
