Global Peace Index 2025 - Italian Launch

The Agency for Peacebuilding and the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) are pleased to welcome you to the Italian launch of the Global Peace Index 2025 at the Italian Parliament in Rome.

In an international context increasingly characterised by rising tensions and challenges to stability, the Global Peace Index offers a detailed analysis of global trends in peace and conflict, highlighting the impact of these dynamics on international politics and national security.

The presentation of the 19th edition of the GPI will provide an opportunity to discuss, alongside experts and institutional leaders, the implications of these developments for political decision-making at both global and local levels.

Produced by the IEP, the Global Peace Index is the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness. Now in its 19th edition, the GPI ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness, covering 99.7% of the world’s population.

The GPI presents the most comprehensive data-driven analysis to date on trends in peace, its economic value, and how to develop peaceful societies. It uses 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators to measure the state of peace across three domains: the level of Societal Safety and Security; the extent of Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict; and the degree of Militarisation.
