Rebooting peace in a complex world

If the major challenges the world faces are truly global in nature, then peace is a prerequisite for the survival of humanity.

The pace of globalisation means that the world has never been more interconnected. What unfolds in one region has real implications for another. Humanity now has more choice than ever. At any one time we have the ability to develop lethal biological weapons or to mass communicate message of empathy and hope.

Peace is pre-requisite for the survival of humanity – without it we will never develop the levels of trust, co-operation or inclusiveness necessary to solve our global challenges.

The dedicated team at the Institute for Economics and Peace, and our wider support networks, have worked tirelessly over the past decade to facilitate and legitimise a fact-based dialogue around peace.

Our most transformative work relates to the concept of Positive Peace, known as the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful societies.

IEP aims to shift the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable and tangible measure of wellbeing and progress.
