Hear from Serge Stroobants, Director for Europe & MENA Region and Global Director for Security, Defense, and Intelligence , and Lea Perekrests, Director of Partnerships, about the Institute for Economics and Peace's (IEP) transformational Positive Peace framework, as well as its Positive Peace Academy.
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank dedicated to shifting the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable, and tangible measure of human well-being and progress. The IEP achieves its goals by developing new conceptual frameworks to define peacefulness; providing metrics for measuring peace; uncovering the relationships between business, peace, and prosperity; and promoting a better understanding of the cultural, economic, and political factors that create peace.
Positive Peace is a transformational framework that draws upon the IEP’s data-driven approach to understanding conflict and peace. The IEP’s Positive Peace Academy is a free short online course that introduces this framework. Through this course, participants will discover how Positive Peace is associated with better performance on ecological sustainability, improved wellbeing, stronger GDP growth rates, and better business outcomes. It also provides the knowledge and a neutral baseline from which students (youth and adults alike) can create their own practical approach to peaceful societal change, whether at home, in business, or in the community. The Positive Peace Academy equips its students with current, data-driven research and ongoing opportunities to remain involved in the IEP’s commitment to peacebuilding.
