Join us on 14 November at the University of Nairobi’s Manu Chandaria Hall for the launch of the 2024 Global Peace Index (GPI). Sponsored by the Australian High Commission in Kenya, this event will feature a presentation of the GPI 2024 findings, followed by a panel discussion with regional experts, focusing on peace and security trends in Kenya and the broader region.
The 2024 GPI Launch in Kenya will provide a crucial platform to address emerging issues on Peace and Security and explore pathways to sustainable peace, including themes relevant to building positive peace such as climate change, AI, and others.
Recent events have underscored the importance of peace both regionally and globally, highlighting issues like recent protests in Kenya, unconstitutional changes in government, and ongoing conflicts worldwide. These events emphasize the urgent need for data-driven approaches to peacebuilding and inclusive platforms that uplift diverse voices, especially youth, women, and marginalized communities. By ensuring diverse perspectives are heard and considered, we can develop more comprehensive and effective strategies for enduring conflict prevention and resolution.
Kenya, like many African nations, faces ongoing challenges to peace and stability. The recent youth-led protests Kenya have highlighted the urgent need for inclusive development and youth engagement in the peace and development discourse. These events underscore the importance of preventing future conflicts through deliberate actions by all stakeholders.
