Vision of Humanity

Peace is the prerequisite for the survival of society as we know it in the 21st century. It lies at the centre of being able to manage humanity’s many and varied challenges, simply because peace creates the optimum environment in which the other activities that contribute to human growth can take place. But the structure, causes and value of peace need to be better understood.

Research that has been undertaken has lead to new and intriguing ways of analysing peace spanning from analysing the impact of peace on sustainability, defining the “Peace Industry”, estimating the value of peace to the world economy, and uncovering the social structures and social attitudes that are at the core of peaceful societies.

The latest examination into the causes and economic value of peace includes three distinct types of analysis: a statistical investigation of the entire GPI database to uncover the structure, causes and value of peace is followed by an analysis of cross-national attitude surveys on a variety of social issues and how they relate to peace.
