Continued research on what peace is, how to achieve and sustain it, is essential to understanding how the activities of businesses, NGOs, governments and other actors can promote peaceful societies.

There are examples where business actors are assuming an active role in peace but there are certain factors that strongly influence corporate willingness to actively contribute to peacebuilding.

Swisspeace,  an action-oriented peace research institute, have explored this topic in a working paper called ‘Motivating and Impeding Factors for Corporate Engagement in Peacebuilding’.
