Denmark is the second most peaceful place in the world Denmark is a very peaceful spot in the world shows a so-called global peace index. Iraq and Somalia hit rock bottom. If to a Danish observer it seams as if there is much unrest in the world from time to time there may be a good reason as Denmark is a peaceful spot on the world map. A new analysis shows that Denmark is the most peaceful of all the countries. The analysis is prepared by analysts from the British weekly business magazine The Economist and it ranks Iceland in top. Denmark has moved 2 rankings up on the so-called global peace index, which was prepared for the first time last year, writes Politiken. The peace index is based on a wide range of indicators, which measure a country’s degree of national and international peace. Among the indicators are the countries’ participation in UN operations and violence crime. The USA ranks number 97 whereas Russia is number 131 among the 140 analysed countries. The analysts from the British weekly magazine state that large business companies ought to have an eye on the peace index when they are to decide where to invest. Moreover, it says that the groups ought to be aware that they themselves possess the ability to further peace through their activities. Source: Copenhagen CapacityReleased: 27 May 2008 |
